We had an opportunity recently to test drive a Tesla Model S (left). We have not made it part of our mission to test and critique cars, and we won’t here. That said, it is exactly as advertised – powerful, plush and easy on the eyes. Our only concern is the focus on a touch screen to control the majority of accessory functions.
There remain many in the auto industry that choose to simply ignore or who actually oppose electric cars and they do so at their peril. Sitting in it, driving it, is a glimpse of the future. Those who don’t believe need only to have a look at what appeared at this month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
Mercedes, Audi and Porsche all showed prototype electric cars (see the
thumbnails). BMW already produces two! Volkswagen, current problems aside, has an electric Golf available as well. Industry leaders chasing a start-up.
Other manufacturers pursue Hybrid technology or hydrogen. Some continue to rely on gasoline. The future is electric – after all, you have the power already!
Further, Volkswagen has all but destroyed any future for diesel. It is not a direct competitor to electric, but was considered cleaner than gas. Bury it and lets finally build an electric fleet.
At DashboardSymbols.com, we developed two Mobile Apps to help drivers with the most common questions asked of service departments everywhere: “What is this light on my dashboard?” And “My car says ‘Key Not Detected’. How do I get into and start my push-button start car?” With these two apps, we have your back. Check them out here.
