A new entry to our acronym page has posted: Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)
Sometimes, a symbol or indicator seen on an instrument panel and hosted here on the site is in the form of a three or four letter Acronym or Abbreviation, as with the example. Auto manufacturers assume that any given driver knows exactly what these acronyms stand for.
Here, LTA comes from Lexus, which is an advance on Lane Keeping and another step for Lexus towards self driving. Slow but sure. The symbols are shown to the right. The yellow/amber/orange version was already in use as a Lane Keeping symbol.
When driving on a road with clear lane lines with the dynamic radar cruise control operating, lane lines and preceding and surrounding vehicles are detected using the front camera and radar sensor, and the steering wheel is operated by LAT to maintain the vehicle’s lane position. In white, LTA is on standby. In green the system is operating. In yellow/amber/orange the vehicle is leaving the lane.
