Polestar symbols page now has the new color treatment

As we continue to work on many changes to the website navigation and search options as well as an extensive 20 model Toyota update, we took the time re-align our Polestar symbols page by color. That makes 40 pages now re-done to reflect the new color ordering, including our primary pictographic symbols page. We are more than 80% of the way through the reordering of the 49 manufacturer symbols pages.

The car line and page are only a few years old and pages that receive more attention received the color re-set as priority. The page holds over 80 entries, which is quite small compared to the trend towards 100 and more symbols and indicators from other manufacturers. And our August update added 26 new symbols!

The company opened its doors with a hybrid model which, while it looked great, was essentially a mistake (according to the company itself) and all subsequent models are pure EV. Thus our symbols page includes items like the check engine light for its internal combustion engine, which might not be expected…

The re-ordering has red warning lights up first, followed by red with yellow/amber/orange (depending on how you see the color!) options, strictly yellow/amber/orange symbols, then blue and green symbols and finally white and gray scale indicators.

Ordering the page by color provides a cleaner, simpler option for drivers searching for information on a new symbol.

Cars are changing, and among those changes is the growing number of symbols and indicators that will invariably show up on your dashboard or instrument panel. Every year, new features are added to vehicles, each of which is accompanied by a new symbol or symbols and likely a new abbreviation or acronym.

At DashboardSymbols.com, our aim is to help you understand what is happening to your vehicle at the first sign of trouble — a new warning light illuminated on your instrument panel. Its all here on this website. Our first intention is to bring the latest technologies down to earth and understandable for everyday drivers.

Our dashboard symbols page covering Polestar warning lights and indicators, and its 80-odd entries, can be seen here.

Remember that only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

These posts are for information sharing purposes only, and should not be used in lieu of an OEM service manual or factory authorized service procedure. We are not in the auto repair business nor do we publish automotive service manuals. Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing could be more true.
