Well, our Mini symbols update is finished and we turn to other European manufacturers starting with a rearrangement of the Volkswagen symbols page by color.
Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Porsche are the most difficult to address because access to owner’s is restricted. However, we did find a source for Porsche manuals, which will make that job considerably easier.
On the other hand, we only now realize that we had never made a Porsche symbols page! We do have back up entry and start pages, which will be updated soon, but for reasons unknown had never put their symbols together.
In any case, the Volkswagen page is now done, which makes 43 pages now reflecting the new color ordering, including our primary pictographic symbols page. We are nearly 90% of the way through the reordering of the 48 manufacturer symbols pages (our recent count of 50 was inaccurate).
The page holds only a little nearly 90 entries, which likely means an update will race past 100 easily.
The re-ordering has red warning lights up first, followed by red with yellow/amber/orange (depending on how you see the color!) options, then strictly yellow/amber/orange symbols and warning lights, blue and green symbols and finally white and gray scale indicators.
As we’ve said, ordering the page by color provides a cleaner, simpler option for drivers searching for information on a new symbol. We should have made these changes long ago…
Cars are changing, and among those changes is the growing number of symbols and indicators that will invariably show up on your dashboard or instrument panel. Every year, new features are added to vehicles, each of which is accompanied by a new symbol or symbols and likely a new acronym.
At DashboardSymbols.com, our aim is to help you understand what is happening to your vehicle at the first sign of trouble — a new warning light illuminated on your instrument panel. Its all here on this website. Our first intention is to bring the latest technologies down to earth and understandable for everyday drivers.
Our dashboard symbols page covering Volkswagen warning lights and indicators, and its 90-or so entries, can be seen here.

In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.
Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
