Manufacturers are in love with the idea of creating new names for existing systems. But Porsche takes this to the highest level, putting the company name on systems, in this case Porsche Stability Management (PSM).

This of course, turns out to be nothing more than stability control, which — thankfully — uses the the original warning light (right).

This is the third system on our acronyms and abbreviations page, following Porsche Active Suspension Management (PDLS) and Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). There are only 18 total entries under the letter P on the page.

We can see a case for the suspension system standing out, but the dynamic light system is only a little more than automatic headlight dimming used across the industry. Porsche includes their cornering light system with the dynamic light system, where most manufacturers opt to keep them separate.
