A complete review of 2024 and 2025 models results in no changes to the Ram back-up entry and start page.
In fact all the Ram’s models have used this simple and sane method since they first began the migration to keyless start.
Further, the company has not fallen victim to the temptation to hide the key hole at the back of the driver’s door handle — in its Ram models, not even with the ProMaster electric vehicle version. EV production seems to focus the temptation to add unnecessary electronic components and “upgrades”.
In fact, no models from Ram or sister companies Dodge and Chrysler hide a key hole on their vehicles.
The majority of other manufacturer now hide the key hole in at least some their models. At least, methods for getting at the key cylinder have improved tremendously over time.
This is fine until the battery in the key fob weakens, and it will at some point. This is when a driver needs a back-up option to get in and start the vehicle.
Ideally Ram owners will notice the warning of a weakened key fob battery that should appear on the instrument panel. However, everyone’s busy lives often result in putting off replacing the battery in the fob until “tomorrow” or, because we are all inundated with information from everywhere, simply missing the notice.
This is where back-up methods from manufacturers are welcome. And necessary!
Now we take on up a review of dashboard symbols and indicators currently in use in Ram models.
Smart Keys or Intelligent Keys, or Access Keys — or whatever the manufacturer of your chooses to call them – that let you into your car and start it with just a touch use up their internal batteries at alarming rates, catching busy drivers unawares — even though the car had tried to warn you.
Our goal is to help you feel safe — and keep you moving or get you moving if at all possible — rather than leave you fretting whenever your key fob stops working. The instructions for getting into and starting most keyless start cars can be found on our pages – without roadside assistance.
You can see the Ram back up open and path to the start page here. Chrysler and Dodge share the page.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
