The Jaguar symbols update is now complete. The result is the addition of 19 symbols and indicators, only four of which are brand new to our database.
Much like Land Rover, the page now holds just over 90 images, a number that, in both cases, is still surprisingly low.
The reason we added only four new symbols is that the vast majority of additions to the page are identical to those we added to the Land Rover page, where we added 18 new images.
For example, the set of three Autonomous Braking System symbols now belong to Jaguar as well, and there was no attempt to modify the vehicle drawings to better match Jaguar models.
We would really like other manufacturers to emulate this practice, a point we try to make with each of these postings in one form or another.
We did add two additional Diesel Exhaust filters, as the company now uses a red and a green version that we had not seen before.
Jaguar did have to mess with lane change images though, by adding white to a red and a green image. The red image appears when a vehicle is crossing a lane line without the driver signaling. The lane not being crossed appears in white.
In the green version, the symbol is signaling that its sees the lane lines and the car, which appears in white, is holding the lane.
To us, these options were completely unnecessary.
Curiously, there are more blue and green indicators (29) than there are yellow/amber/orange indicators (25). Drivers really need to stay on their toes…
