Lane change

With the addition of three new symbols from Skoda, our Lane Departure and Lane Change Assist page now sports a total of 61 indicators!

The symbols, all carrying at least the color green, are part of the company’s Travel Assist system, and more specifically for these indicators, Lane Guidance.

All green indicates that Travel Assist is activated, and both cruise control and adaptive lane guidance are active. With the lanes painted white, the system is active along with adaptive cruise control. With the car and dial in white, the system is active along with lane guidance.

A visit to the page will make it clear that every manufacturer has their own take on how to present these systems. They grow in sophistication as manufacturers move ever closer to self driving. It would behoove someone in authority to mandate that everyone agree on a single set of indicators.

We’ve been screaming into the wind about this for years, and will continue to do so. Drivers deserve better. Even manufacturers from the same group of companies do not agree on presentation.

Incidentally, the Skoda symbols page now holds nearly 110 images and we have at least another 20 to add!
