Relying on your phone to operate your car could be big trouble!

Relying on your phone

More and more car manufacturers are creating smart phone apps that allow drivers to operate their vehicles with the phone. But take it from us, don’t continue relying on your phone!

First and foremost, smart phones are in constant use and, as a consequence, are in constant need of a charge. The batteries in key fobs die too soon but not on the daily basis of many cell phones.

Then we spotted something in a Tesla manual while finishing an update of their pages. They note that communication between the car and the phone takes place over a Bluetooth connection, and that, as a phone’s battery weakens, some phones disable Bluetooth to conserve energy!

And there you are stranded!

Do not rely on your phone! For your own safety, carry a key fob or key card as well at minimum!

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
