Experience with Polestar‘s app left me reluctant to even connect the Kia Access app. However, once the way was cleared (see this post) the app turned out to be easy to connect and use.
Literal hours were wasted attempting to connect to the Polestar offering. Here are their instructions:
All seems pretty simple, but the need to drop the fobs in the pocket was odd to say the least. And there was no equivalent in connecting to the Kia. A simple Bluetooth connection.
In fact, the Polestar app consistently said it could not pair with the car. Meanwhile, the phone itself maintained a perfectly healthy connection, playing music, making calls etc. Very, very odd to say the least.
Much like my slow walking the use of Kia app, I abandoned the Polestar version as it simply wasn’t necessary to the operation of the car. A simple accessory, that in fact should not be relied on! See here…
As noted in the previous post, I opted to make the connection to Kia when the company announced that Tesla‘s charge network was now available to the company, and through the app itself.
I have yet to try it and still need to pick up an adapter, but I am excited about having access to effectively twice as many high speed charging stations than before.
Will post the results after a first use.
