Symbols update

The release of the Dodge Charger electric vehicle (EV) in late 2024 prompted the start of our 2025-2026 dashboard symbols update, which of course begins with Dodge.

The result is the addition of 24 more symbols and indicators, half of which are new to our database. This includes four new drive modes, which seems to be the industry’s favorite target for feature addition.

The result is that the number of symbols and indicators on the Dodge page ran past the 100 mark to nearly 120.

An odd symbol is the one to the right which is an electric motor fault indicator. The oddity is twofold. First, we surprised that it was the first time an EV or hybrid manufacturer had not already created a fault indicator for the motor.

And second, it resembles nearly to a tee symbols used for EV battery faults, as can be seen to the right. The symbol above right includes a longer neck, but both of these images resemble a household battery with an exclamation point inside. Perhaps the longer neck can be associated with a motor.

Another oddity from Dodge is that they chose to make new symbols for their PowerShot system, and in the same three colors that were previously used. We admit that the latest versions are simplified, removing the spinning wheel surrounding a lightning bolt (right), leaving just the lightning bolt (far right).

We’ll give them credit for perhaps thinking their drivers would understand their meaning better.

In any case, the Dodge symbols page with its 119 entries can be seen here.
