Smart vehicle symbols

We’ve added a new page for Mercedes-Benz Smart vehicle symbols. It remains a work in progress, as we have the newer electric cross over vehicles to add.

However, we thought that what is on the page is useful for drivers of existing Smart Fortwo vehicles. And there are some newer vehicles already accounted for.

For instance, we ran across this symbol (right) in a Smart 1 vehicle. It is a Charging Socket or Malfunction Indicator. The symbol will illuminate when the vehicle is connected to a mains socket. If it is not seen when plugged in, there is a malfunction with the mains socket.

We noted similarities with parent company Mercedes and so started the page by copying the Mercedes entry. The final push mostly involves black and white and gray scale symbols, and many on the page will likely be deleted as we finish.

Cars are changing, and among those changes is the growing number of symbols and indicators that will invariably show up on your dashboard or instrument panel. Every year, new features are added to vehicles, each of which is accompanied by a new symbol or symbols and likely a new abbreviation or acronym.
