NHTSA piles on the recalls

Recalls

I missed three days of tracking traffic on X and getting caught up wound up reposting a full 24 recalls from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Today found another six, including another air bag recall, this time from Mazda.

What initially got our attention were three back-up camera recalls. These devices have been around for decades but they continue to give manufacturers fits. The Polestar 2 I drove for three years went through a back-up camera recall as well.

Along those lines were malfunctioning displays in a Ford and a Cadillac.

However, the real star of the recall show was The Ford Co., which picked up more than half of the total recalls with 15 for Ford vehicles and three more for Lincoln models.

And only two were for the same problem — steering in this case. All of the others were for completely different issues. Dealers will be addressing problems across many models and many different systems.

Two others were recalls to correctly repair previous recalls.

Not a good few days for Ford. We will return to regenerative braking shortly.
