Hyundai EV jump starting video added to YouTube

EV jump starting

Today we posted a new video on our YouTube channel describing Hyundai EV jump starting. It also anticipates that the driver is locked out and includes instructions for getting inside.

The video joins the new jump start playlist that now holds three videos.

Every electric vehicle uses a 12-volt “start” battery that effectively starts and operates all of the vehicle’s functions other than locomotion. And this type of battery is just as vulnerable to failure as a 12-volt start battery is in an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.

In fact, these batteries are far more likely to fail than the EV’s high voltage battery. Further, the 12-volt battery used in an EV is likely to less capable than an ICE counterpart, since it does not have to perform an ICE start function (cold cranking!).

These batteries have been bricking cars for years, and EVs are hardly immune.

You can see our new jump start playlist here.

Vehicles covered include the Ioniq, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kona EV.
