Niro VESS sound

As I’ve noted previously, the 2022 back-up Kia Niro VESS sound is painfully loud. Then, I ran into a video that does a direct comparison between the North American noise maker and the European version.

The difference, below, is remarkable. The US version is first, and be aware that it is truly loud in reverse.

A lovely little bell in reverse in Europe. Some of the comments suggest that there has been a change in to the Euro version in 2023 and that Canada uses the Euro version as well. Local Kia dealers have not been very helpful.

Thanks to FlyORdieInAfire for posting. Perhaps he can tell us all where to get the quieter version??? He’s clearly got both and the local dealers are practically useless…

Anyway, once I saw the Niro video, YouTube, as you might expect, recommended a video featuring the Hyundai Ionic 5. Its a little ponderous, but take a listen.

So, we earn one important thing. The EU version can be plugged into a US car. It is clearly using the same connector. What we don’t know is whether or not a Hyundai VESS speaker, which is also quite tolerable, can swapped into a Niro, or any other Hyundai or Kia EV that is overly loud.
