We’re in the middle of an update of Alfa Romeo symbols and indicators and noticed that the company labels a handful of green and blue indicators as warning lights in the Giulia and Stelvio models. This just doesn’t seem right. At all.
And looking back, Alfa Romeo has been doing this since 2021.
The lights in question are Turn Signal indicators, the Automatic High Beam indicator, the Parking and Headlights On indicator, all in green, and the High Beam indicator in blue. So, just how can these be seen as warnings?
We’ve all been behind someone who’s turn signal is on, and never turns. So, maybe those two indicators can be seen as warnings. Similarly, leaving high beams on can be a nuisance at best to on coming traffic.
This brings us to the automatic high beam indicator. This system would remove the nuisance of the high beams o for oncoming traffic. There is not a chance in the world that this can be seen as a warning light.
And the lights on indicator? In older vehicles perhaps leaving them on would be a drain on the battery. And while this remains true in newer models, the lights on an Alfa Romeo can be switched to automatic, where there is no need for a warning at all.
One way or another, the warning light label is just a stretch for green and blue indicators.
Cars are changing, and among those changes is the growing number of symbols and indicators that will invariably show up on your dashboard or instrument panel. Every year, new features are added to vehicles, each of which is accompanied by a new symbol or symbols and likely a new abbreviation or acronym.
At DashboardSymbols.com, our aim is to help you understand what is happening to your vehicle at the first sign of trouble — a new warning light illuminated on your instrument panel. Its all here on this website. Our first intention is to bring the latest technologies down to earth and understandable for everyday drivers.
