Polestar back-up open page now stands alone

Polestar back-up open

We’ve created a new page so as to separate Volvo and Polestar. A Polestar back-up open page now stands alone.

Back-up open and start procedures are made necessary to account for the batteries in key fobs dying, as they commonly do.

This change, and the recent separation of the two brands back up start pages are the result of assembling jump start information for them. Each has two new back up methods, essentially caused by the same change, but making the pages crowded and unwieldy.

On the open side, the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 no longer have mechanical keys. Getting inside involves placing the depleted key fob on the either the front of the door handle on the Polestar 3 (right) or on the middle of the driver’s door pilar on the Polestar 4 (far right).

There doesn’t seem to be any reason why they both couldn’t share the same method, but manufacturers have never listened to us…

You can find the new Polestar back-up open page here and the Volvo page, sans Polestar, here.

The material on these pages is provided for information sharing purposes only, and should not be used in lieu of an OEM service manual or factory authorized service procedure. We are not in the auto repair business nor do we publish automotive service manuals. Nothing we include on these pages and posts has been reviewed, approved or authorized by any vehicle manufacturer.

Remember that only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
