This piece from InsideEVs discusses some features of the 2025 G-Wagon EV, but focuses a lot of energy on what Mercedes call the G-Turn.
And its just wild — and aptly named.
Aptly named because the car in question, again the G-Wagon EV, manages to completely spin around without leaving its spot, all due to the separate electric motors attached to each wheel.
You have to see this video…
In the demonstration, the pavement appears wet and while the vehicle can likely pull off the feat on dry pavement, it will finish with considerably less rubber than it began with.
Mercedes says that G-Turn makes it possible to turn the vehicle on the spot and that if a total of two complete vehicle turns are executed in either direction, the feature is automatically canceled.
Despite the demonstration’s location, Mercedes is said to warn drivers that G-Turn shouldn’t be used on public roads due to obvious safety issues. And after all, the is only available in and off-road drive program GRock and in the LOW RANGE off-road gear.
And tearing up dirt roads, where it would likely work very, very well, would not go over well with others trying to use the same road. And ripping up nature when off-road just doesn’t sit well.
Regardless, while it will be tempting for drivers to play with the feature, it should be very useful in some tight situations. Also, Mercedes warns that the vehicle is severely stressed when G-Turn is used, which seems very likely.
