On the heels of a recall item we posted yesterday noting a fire risk in Jeep hybrid vehicles and their high-voltage batteries comes yet another Jeep recall of hybrids with a fire risk, this time due to an issue with its gasoline engine.

Unlike the earlier recall, a park outside recommendation is not included.

The recall from parent company Chrysler is for certain 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 2024-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) vehicles. It states that debris inside the engine may cause the engine to fail, which can result in a loss of drive power and possibly a fire in the engine compartment.

NHTSAThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) adds rather blithely that a loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, and a vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.

There is a yet no remedy available. However, interim notification letters explaining the safety risk are expected to be mailed December 29, 2025. and follow-up letters will be sent once the final remedy is available.

Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall are searchable at NHTSA and owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403.
