Our YouTube channel now hosts a Rivian jump start video

Rivian jump start

We have uploaded a new video to our channel on YouTube with help for drivers in need of a Rivian jump start. It is the tenth video in our series intended to help drivers of electric vehicles (EVs) in the likely event of a 12-volt battery failure.

Motorists are still caught off guard to discover that their EV uses a 12-volt battery to actually start the car, much like a 12-volt battery is used to start an internal combustion engine vehicle. And if that battery dies, the EV can in fact be jump started!

And unless you own a BMW we can help (BMW will not release jump start options for its vehicles!)

Rivian, which makes EVs exclusively, currently offers two models, the R1S and R1T. The jump start process is identical for each, although they are a struggle.

A failed 12-volt battery will leave you outside and locked out — there is no mechanical key option in the Rivian EVs. So the jump start process will first get you inside.

The biggest surprise is discovering that this is done at the rear bumper. This is similar to that of the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla and Volvo/Polestar models, except at the wrong end of the vehicle!

The video can be seen on our YouTube channel or below.
