We’ve railed for years about door handle issues, which are really about electronic door latches. But, we can have a sense of humor about the whole thing and Saturday Night Live managed to have some fun them.
Our issues with electronic latches centers on being able to get out if power is lost. SNL picked up on the idea that getting out with power is a problem.
Their spin centers on being a passenger in an Uber or Lyft vehicle they aren’t familiar with and can’t find a door handle. They go off on car makers for making handles hard when they used to be easy — like the one above.
They fixed what wasn’t broken!
They finish with a car exec’s childhood experience that led to changes (no spoilers!).
For the record, we can have a laugh but we still think electronic latches and odd door handles are safety hazards.
