Forward collision avoidance fault indicators moved to new page

Forward collision indicatorCollision avoidance

As we continue attempts to simplify the website, we have separated Forward Collision Avoidance Fault Indicators to a separate page. As best as possible.

Forward Collision System Fault IndicatorWe say as best as possible for two reasons. First, that most of these indicators feature an exclamation point (right). Most…

Forward collision alert offThe end result here is that it isn’t always clear what the manufacturer’s intent actually is. Sometimes the inclusion of the word OFF takes on two meanings:

  1.  that the system is turned off and
  2.  the system is off because of a fault!

Further, the image at the top right is not a fault indicator. But the added message clearly is!

Which is the second reason we say as best as possible. As the pages develop going forward, we may find the need to work fault indicators back into the main page.

Ultimately, we want every page and every indicator we present to be as clear as possible to drivers in distress. Too many indicators on a single page are no help, hence our desire to clean things up.

The material on these pages is provided for information sharing purposes only and should not be used in lieu of an OEM service manual or factory authorized service procedure. We are not in the auto repair business, nor do we publish automotive service manuals. Nothing we include on these pages and posts has been reviewed, approved or authorized by any vehicle manufacturer.

Remember — only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
