Karma emergency open and start pages created

Karma pages.

It was decided that it was time Karma Automotive got its own pages on this site. We’ve begun with Karma emergency open and start entries.

These pages hold back-up or emergency open and start procedures made necessary in the event that the battery in the key fob dies or electrical fields interfere with the fob’s signal.

However, we were only unfortunately able to get our hands on a Revero manual, a model only built through 2021.

The company has since expanded its lineup beyond hybrid-electric powertrains to include pure electric — and very pricey — vehicles, like the all-electric Gyesera sedan and the Kavea super-coupe.

A little history

Initially, we were going to meld the Karma line into our existing Fisker pages, but this proved to be a mistake — the companies may be born from the parents but they diverge broadly as entities.

Rovero-door-handleIndeed, the Fisker Karma and the Karma Revero share a body and an emergency open procedure that features a key hole on the passenger door (rght)! It does use a new key fob.

Designer Henrik Fisker and his original Fisker Automotive launched the Fisker Karma in 2011. The company  went bankrupt in 2013 after a series of battery recalls. Wanxiang Group acquired Fisker‘s assets — but not the name — at a bankruptcy auction.

The company, now headquartered in Irvine, Caalifornia, rebranded to Karma Automotive in 2015. It has an assembly plant in Moreno Valley.

We will now get to work on a symbols page for the company and see if we can’t get our hands on manuals for the newer models. In the meantime, the Karma back-up or emergency open and start pages can be found starting here.

The material on these pages is provided for information sharing purposes only and should not be used in lieu of an OEM service manual or factory authorized service procedure. We are not in the auto repair business, nor do we publish automotive service manuals. Nothing we include on these pages and posts has been reviewed, approved or authorized by any vehicle manufacturer.

Remember — only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
