We just added a new jump start video to our YouTube channel with help for Chevrolet EV drivers with dead start batteries. These and all electric vehicles (EVs) use a 12-volt battery to actually start the car, much like a 12-volt battery is used to start an internal combustion engine vehicle.
And if the 12-volt battery dies, the EV can be jump started!
We cover Bolt, Bolt EUV, Equinox, Blazer and Silverado EVs as well as the BrightDrop electric van. They all use the same key fob and mechanical key for entry, however, the BrightDrop uses the mechanical key in the back door!
The Silverado‘s key hole is visible at the back of the driver’s door handle, but the Bolt, Equinox and Blazer models are all hiding the key hole behind a cap that needs to be removed.
The video will get you in and in position to perform a jump start. We add instructions for this as well, even though the process is exactly the same as with gas or diesel powered vehicles.
