Lucid gets the Get Out page nod too

Just yesterday we updated our Get Out page with entries from Volvo and Polestar. Which prompted a very first look into what Lucid was up to with their locks and latches.

Sure enough, they followed the trend essentially begun by Tesla with electronic locks and latches and flush handles that essentially require a mechanical back-up. And much like Audi, Polestar and Volvo, the back-up is activated by giving an extra pulling on the door handle.

The Lucid manual entries read “in the event that the door loses power, fully pull the release handle to open.”

Yes, we give kudos to what is a very simple, intuitive, human move to make when something doesn’t respond as expected: pull harder, push harder, try over and over again.

However, we’ll continue our own personal drumbeat that, in effect, calls out the wastefulness of a technology that requires two full sets of hardware. Get rid of the one that poses a danger and implement that which is tried and true and required regardless!

Such a waste…

As with the Volvo and Polestar versions, we have yet to see one to try and will report back when we do.

Our newly updated — again — Get Out page can be seen here.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
