Jump start videoWell this one took a long time to assemble, but we have now dropped a new jump start video exclusively for Polestar as well as Volvo EV models.
We spent an inordinate amount of time chasing down information on the so-called 12-volt terminal. This is a connection point used by Polestar 3 and 4 as well as the Volvo EX30 and EX90. We found the versions used by each company but neither company offers an actual jump start process for these vehicles.
In fact, Volvo told us flat out that there is no jump start process available. Their cars need to be towed to a dealer for whatever repair is necessary, at least until the companies come face to face with right to repair laws.
Both companies require a 12-volt charger be connected, rather than a jump box or another vehicle. This is to protect the electronics connected to the battery.
In addition, the use of a charger leads us to believe that the vehicles may become drivable after being connected for a time. We will update everyone if and when we can verify this. In other words, no one we spoke with is aware of finding one of these models with a dead start battery as yet.
