Back only a week or so, I did a piece discussing the “wonder” that Tesla AutoPilot users attribute on X to the software, that it saved their lives here or saved a pedestrian there etc. Each of these comments would be accompanied by video proof.
Each time it felt as though each of the situations shown could be handled just as easily by an alert driver.
Then this happened to me!
Handled without AI! Maybe I was tempting fate.
Of course, I had to post it on X as well.
To be clear, I am not a detractor here. Self driving vehicles have their place, particularly in an aging population as well as for the disabled at any age. However, I am not personally inclined to take the plunge and prefer to wait for a more fleshed out infrastructure.
