Auto Liftgate Fault Warning

Auto Liftgate

Auto liftgate fault indicatorThis is an Auto Liftgate Fault Warning Indicator symbol. It appears as the back of a car with the liftgate or trunk open and and exclamation point. The letter A is added for no particular reason. The warning light will be seen when there is a fault detected with the auto liftgate, possibly but not limited to one or more of the sensors.

  • Before continuing, are you sure this is your symbol?? If yes, then read on below.
  • Otherwise, you can return to our main Picture Symbols page and scan again!

This systems operates the hands-free technology used to automatically open or close the liftgate. This actually can be turned on or off at the instrument panel. When on and you’ve got your hands full, just kick your foot under the license plate to open. Assuming of course that the fault light is not on! The liftgate can also be closed with the same movement.

Cars are changing, and among those changes is the growing number of symbols and indicators that will invariably show up on your dashboard or instrument panel. Every year, new features are added to vehicles, each of which is accompanied by a new symbol or symbols and likely a new acronym.

At DashboardSymbols.com, our aim is to help you understand what is happening to your vehicle at the first sign of trouble – a new warning light illuminated on your instrument panel. Its all here on this website. Our first intention is to bring the latest technologies down to earth and understandable for everyday drivers.

Dodge dashboard symbols update adds an astounding 44 new lights!

Dodge logoDodge Dashboard Symbols Update

Given that the company has only two models, the Hornet and the Durango, it is a huge surprise to find that the 2024 Dodge dashboard symbols update will add 44 new symbols to the page, nearly doubling the total count. At this writing we’re only about half way through!

Primarily, we find the addition of a whole lot of technology, including new hybrid technology in the Hornet. In addition, that tech appears to come straight from Alfa Romeo! Both are in the Stellantis family after all.

The giveaway are these three lights related to the use of a 48 volt hybrid battery. The lights are part of what Alfa Romeo call E-Boost and what Dodge calls PowerShot! The symbols are very, very unique.

E-boost indicator 3E-boost indicator 2E-boost indicatorE-Boost and PowerShot are a belt-driven 48V hybrid system. This system helps in stop-and-go situations and translates to improvements for the official city fuel economy. Seen in white, the system is unavailable. Seen in gray it is available and in green, it is engaged.

Plus, there are now four different Sport Mode Indicators!

There’s a whole lot more, more than 90 in fact, that can be seen on the Dodge symbols page here.

We dropped a new Chevrolet video covering Equinox, Cruze, Sonic and Blazer models

Chevrolet logoNew Chevrolet Video

We recently added a new Chevrolet video to our YouTube channel. It is specifically for 2019 through 2024 Equinox keyless start models with a dead key fob battery. And yes there is a way to get in and get going. The process will also work with 2017 and later Cruze models, as well as all Sonic and Blazer models.

These models all use a back up location that is the front cup holder. They also feature a hidden key hole, which we show how to uncover.

We’ve added the video to our Chevrolet video page, which now features 19 videos. You can find them all here at this link. The new video can be seen here.

Smart Keys or Intelligent Keys, or Access Keys – or whatever the manufacturer of your chooses to call them – that let you into your car and start it with just a touch use up their internal batteries at alarming rates, catching busy drivers unawares – even though the car had tried to warn you.

Our goal is to help you feel safe – and keep you moving or get you moving if at all possible – rather than leave you fretting whenever your key fob stops working. The instructions for getting into and starting most keyless start cars can be found on our pages – without roadside assistance.

Remember to replace the batteries in your key fobs at the first moment you see a warning on your instrument panel!

Polestar dashboard symbols update adds 26 new lights!

Polestar logoPolestar Dashboard Symbols Update

Given that the company added two new models, the Polestar 3 and 4, to compliment the Polestar 2, it isn’t a big surprise to find that the 2024 Polestar dashboard symbols update added 26 new symbols to the page. A whole lot of the additions are black and white versions of existing lights. However, there are several frustrating new indicators.

Lane departure warning leftLane departure warning leftFirst up is the addition of a second Lane Departure Indicator that tells the driver he or she is drifting to the left. The default indicator shows a vehicle drifting right, but now it appears there is no confidence in a driver knowing which direction the car is drifting.

Auto high beam indicatorAnother frustration is this version of the Automatic Headlamp Dimmer Indicator, which means that the automated system is on and ready for use! Other black and white indicators are in use in the industry, including one from Polestar, that mean the system is off or unavailable! This means that you’ll need to consult your car’s manual to be sure what the light actually means in your model.

Driver alert indicatorYet another is this Attention Assist Indicator, which in this case means that there is a fault in the system. Again, other manufacturers use virtually the same image simply to indicate to the driver that its time for a break. Once again, consult the your car’s owner manual to determine if it is a fault light, particularly if you have not been driving long.

Hornet back up start spot is new with the model

Dodge logoHornet back up start spot

Dodge introduced a new model in 2023 and with it came a new back up start spot. The Hornet back up start startHornet back up start spot is inside the front cup holder (right).

Push button or keyless start cars and trucks need a location to touch or drop the key fob in the event the battery in the fob becomes depleted. This can happen as quickly as eight months, depending on use.

Chrysler Emergency Start TwoFor 15 years, the only thing a driver of a keyless start Dodge or Chrysler had to do if their key fob died was touch the tip of the fob to the Start / Stop ignition button (right), and the vehicle would recognize it and start. Time will tell if the new method in the Hornet will spread to additional models.

Replacing a Nissan key fob battery

Nissan logoNissan key fob battery

We recently added a new video replacing a Nissan key fob battery, the three-button fob version. That video is here.

The process is nearly identical to the four-button fob version, but deserves its own treatment.

The video has been added to our Nissan and Infiniti page here. Overall, we now have a seven videos that help Nissan and Infiniti drivers in the event that the battery in the key fob dies. These videos will help you get in and start the vehicle even if it is not responding to the key fob.

Chrysler dashboard symbols update adds seven new lights

Chrysler logoChrysler Dashboard Symbols Update

Despite the company selling only two models, the 2024 Chrysler dashboard symbols update still manages to add seven new symbols to the page.

Lane departure warning greenLane departure warningMost are the result of adding new colors to existing symbols. As a for instance, there are now green and white Lane Departure Indicators. They add to what a driver needs to know about the system, In green, the system is on and ready and both lanes are detected. In white, lane lines are not detected.

Adaptive cruise control on indicatorAdaptive cruise control indicatorAlso added were several for Adaptive Cruise Control (right). As with above, the additions involve new colors: green means the system is operating; green with an added vehicle says the system is running and has detected a vehicle ahead; and white says the system is on, but no speed has been chosen.
