Brake Override
These are Brake Override System Indicator symbols. If a buzzer is not heard, the brake override system is operating. It turned off by releasing the accelerator pedal and stepping on the brake pedal. It appears as a foot or shoe on a brake pedal next to an accelerator, all with an arrow above them.

However, in truth, the indicators covers a multitude of systems found in some Toyota and Mazda vehicles. It also may represent the Drive-Start Control system or the Intelligent Clearance Sonar system. If a buzzer is heard, one of the following has occurred:
- the Brake Override System has malfunctioned;
- the Drive-Start Control is operating;
- the Drive-Start Control has malfunctioned; or
- the Intelligent Clearance Sonar is operating.
Fortunately, there will be instructions to follow shown on on the multi-information display.

Toyota Symbols
These are Reverse Automatic Braking (
The picture symbols here are used by some manufacturers and is seen if the system is unavailable. The sensors may be dirty, but if the light remains after cleaning, a qualified service shop will be needed.
The symbol to the left is from a system with a slightly different name, Reverse Brake Assist. The symbol is shown when the brakes have been applied by the system. Its is shown as a car with an explosion to the right and below. Difficult to see is a down facing arrow in the explosion.
Similarly, this symbol is a Traction Battery Coolant Fluid Level Low indicator. Seen primarily in some hybrid vehicles is a battery cooling system that, much like a typical internal combustion engine requires a cooling fluid that may require topping off occasionally.
The symbol to the left, also featuring a wavy line at the bottom, is the traditional Low Coolant symbol is use for decades for internal combustion engines. But, as of 2024, it may be found in Kia hybrid vehicles and would be displayed when the coolant used by the vehicle’s electrical inverter is low. Driving without sufficient amount of coolant for a prolonged period of time can cause serious problems with the vehicle’s electrical equipment.
Do not confuse the first symbol with the similar one to the right, which is a catalytic converter.

This is a Hybrid Operation Indicator
