Exhaust mode indicator symbols

Exhaust mode

Normal exhaust modeBaja exhaust modeQuiet exhaust modeSport exhaust modeThese are Exhaust Mode Indicator symbols. They are an exclusive from Ford and found in new Bronco Raptor models as part of the vehicle’s G.O.A.T modes. That is Goes Over Any-type of Terrain (G.O.A.T.) modes.

  • Before continuing, is one of these truly your symbol?? If yes, read on below.
  • Otherwise, you can return to our main Pictographic Symbols page and scan again!

The exhaust modes literally change the amount of noise emanating from the vehicle. The first one shown, from the left, is Normal mode, where the setting is said to provide a balance of comfort and feedback. Next, showing a cactus plant as a hint, is Baja mode, which is the loudest setting that will likely earn you a ticket for excess noise used anywhere but off-road.

Next up is Quiet mode, which is obviously the quietest setting for comfort under all driving conditions. And then finally there is Sport more which adds a little noise for “spirited driving”.

Just as our roads are getting quieter with the advance of electric cars…

As a final note, a Bronco driver can choose Quiet start, which allows a schedule of exhaust modes in a time window from 1 to 24 hours.

Hybrid System Operation Dashboard Indicators

Hybrid System

eDrive preparation symbolDownhill ready indicatorThese symbols are Hybrid System Operation Indicators symbols. They will be seen in some hybrid vehicles when the navigation system is engaged in destination guidance. Hybrid operation is adapting  to specific route sections.

  • Before moving on, is one of these truly your symbol??
  • If not, you can return to our main Picture Symbols page and scan again!

The first, a checkered flag, indicates that electric driving is being prepared for a specific area about to be encountered. The second, a downhill grade and percent sign in a triangle, indicates that the system is ready to charge the battery while moving downhill.

The symbols will be seen in the energy flow display, and again indicates that a particular driving situation has been detected ahead and the hybrid system is preparing for it. Use of the hybrid system is optional.
