Climate Preconditioning
This is a Vehicle Climate Preconditioner Indicator symbol. If a vehicle is so equipped, it can be heated or cooled in advance of driving. In warm weather, the ventilation system cools the passenger compartment by blowing air in from outside. The function cannot heat the passenger compartment, since this requires the vehicle to be running. The image is that of wavy lines or arrows rising from a line.
- Before continuing, is this truly your symbol?? If yes, then read on below.
- Otherwise, you can return to our main Picture Symbols page and scan again!
The function requires a smart phone and a smart phone app. Preconditioning can be started at a moments notice or begun at a preset time using a timer. The manufacturer says that preconditioning the vehicle before driving can help reduce wear and reduce energy consumption during a trip.
The same app can start the vehicle to warm the engine and thus the passenger compartment or operate the air conditioner.

In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
