Smart Regenerative System Indicators

Smart Regenerative System

Auto regenerative brake indicatorAuto regenerative brake indicator blueAuto regenerative brake indicator redThese images are Smart Regenerative System indicator symbols. The system is from Kia and uses the front radar to not only control the distance to a vehicle ahead but also to adjust the amount of regenerative braking is applied. Regenerative braking is found in electric vehicles (EVs) and uses the vehicle’s electric motor to send energy back to the battery when the vehicle is slowing.

  • Before continuing, is one of these truly your symbol?? If yes, read on below.
  • Otherwise, you can return to our main Picture Symbols page and scan again!

The indicators show the level of regenerative braking that has been set by the number of arrows in the image; 1, 2 or 3. Three arrow images are shown in all the images to the right. The word AUTO is added beneath the image. They are connected to Kia’s Smart Regenerative System. However, in this case, the number of arrows is a start point and will change depending on road gradient, the distance to a vehicle ahead and the speed of the vehicle ahead as the auto system takes hold.

There are three possible colors: White, blue and red. When the system is turned on but no vehicle is recognized ahead, the light remains white. When a vehicle is spotted, it goes to blue. If the driver steps on the brake pedal, the indicator goes to red.

Lane Following Assist indicators

Lane Following Assist

Lane following assist greenLane following assist in grayLane following assist in whiteThese are Lane Following Assist (LFA) indicator symbols. The system helps detect lane markings and/or a vehicle ahead on the road, and helps center the vehicle in the lane.

  • Before continuing, are you sure one of these is your symbol?? If yes, then read on below.

This is essentially a light duty self driving system that is a step above lane keeping and behind hands free driving. In fact, the driver gets a hands-off warning and if he or she still does not have their hands on the steering wheel lane following assist is automatically canceled.

In use, if the vehicle ahead and/or both lane markings are detected and the vehicle speed is below 120 mph (200 km/h), the green indicator light is seen. Seen in gray indicates that the lane markings are not detected or the vehicle is above speed. It appears in white when the system is cancelled.

Cars are changing, and among those changes is the growing number of symbols and indicators that will invariably show up on your dashboard or instrument panel. Every year, new features are added to vehicles, each of which is accompanied by a new symbol or symbols and likely a new acronym.

At DashboardSymbols.com, our aim is to help you understand what is happening to your vehicle at the first sign of trouble – a new warning light illuminated on your instrument panel. Its all here on this website. Our first intention is to bring the latest technologies down to earth and understandable for everyday drivers.

It and the image of a sign set next to a vehicle indicates a laundry list of potential problems with the system. They indicates that the car will not currently recognize traffic signs. This is also the case if an exclamation point is seen in the message center rather than a recognizable traffic sign.

The second one simply says that the traffic sign recognition feature has been turned off.

A text message may also be seen on the instrument panel describing the problem. It will range from view restrictions due to surroundings; a malfunction in the navigation system; sign based speed warning; no valid navigation data and no speed limits detected by the navigation system; the data may be unavailable in the current geography; or an actual malfunction in the system. In any of these scenarios the system will switch itself off.

If the text displays an actual malfunction, have your dealer or qualified service shop repair the system.

Super Cruise Status Indicator

The light is essentially a representation of the car’s steering wheel, complete with controls and is shown in gray scale in the vehicle’s information display.

  • Before continuing, is this truly your symbol?? If yes, then read on below.
  • Otherwise, you can return to our main Picture Symbols page and scan again!

Super Cruise, which is a brand name belonging to Cadillac, or more specifically General Motors, is a hands-free driving system that is essentially an upgrade of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping systems. It has since been incorporated into Buick models, which uses the second symbol.

How it Works

Super Cruise uses cameras, global positioning system (GPS) sensing, high-precision maps, additional GPS information from OnStar to detect the current lane position and lane markings ahead on limited access freeways under the proper conditions. Super Cruise will not operate otherwise and the indicator will be off. It will also not operate if Driver Attention System (DAS) sees that the driver’s attention is not on the road.

An active OnStar or connected service plan that includes Emergency Services is required in order to use Super Cruise.
