These symbols are Hybrid System Operation Indicators symbols. They will be seen in some hybrid vehicles when the navigation system is engaged in destination guidance. Hybrid operation is adapting  to specific route sections.

The first, a checkered flag, indicates that electric driving is being prepared for a specific area about to be encountered. The second, a downhill grade and percent sign in a triangle, indicates that the system is ready to charge the battery while moving downhill.

The symbols will be seen in the energy flow display, and again indicates that a particular driving situation has been detected ahead and the hybrid system is preparing for it. Use of the hybrid system is optional.
