Our update of the Toyota symbols page is now complete

Toyota symbols

Our Toyota symbols page update is at long last finished. In the process we added 51 symbols and indicators to a page, which now come in at nearly 150.

Fifteen of those additions are brand new, including five seat belt indicators, three suspension modes and three drive modes for GR Corollas.

There is even a new Crawl mode symbol when in fact the company was already using three others!

Several drive mode indicators were added that initially found their way into Lexus models. But the GR modes were a surprise.

The GR Corolla is an all-wheel drive vehicle from the company’s Gazoo Racing (GR) segment. The text names require new entries (right), and we won’t be surprised to find sand and snow modes added as time goes on, In the interim, we have Normal, Track (it does have a 300hp turbo engine) and Gravel modes. Stay home if it snows!

Elsewhere, Toyota also added Lane Tracing first seen in Lexus, but frankly seems confused on which symbols to use. This, however needs a deeper dive in another post. It is, after all, simply an advance on Lane Keeping and another step towards self driving.

It remains a frustration to have to add so many new symbols when there are already versions that could be used. We continue to encourage all manufacturers to recycle existing symbols and not add more burden to their drivers.

Cars are changing, and among those changes is the growing number of symbols and indicators that will invariably show up on your dashboard or instrument panel. Every year, new features are added to vehicles, each of which is accompanied by a new symbol or symbols and likely a new acronym. or abbreviation

At DashboardSymbols.com, our aim is to help you understand what is happening to your vehicle at the first sign of trouble — a new warning light illuminated on your instrument panel. Its all here on this website. Our first intention is to bring the latest technologies down to earth and understandable for everyday drivers.

Our dashboard symbols page covering Toyota indicators, and its 145 entries, can be seen here.

Remember that only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
