New video on our YouTube channel: Open, Start a Buick Encore with a dead key fob battery

Open, start a Buick Encore

We have added an updated video to our YouTube channel demonstrating how to open, start a Buick Encore with a dead key fob battery. The video adds GX models which we neglected. Further, by 2023 all Encore models are the GX version.

The GX hides the key hole behind a cover at the back of the driver’s door handle like the one shown to the left that needs to be removed. It is removed very much like nearly all cars from General Motors using the mechanical key hiding inside the fob.

Also, while the standard Encore uses the front cup holder as a back up location, the GX version uses a small shelf found directly in front of the center console storage area (right). The update was prompted by the driver of a GX who pointed out that the original video didn’t help him!

Smart Keys or Intelligent Keys, or Access Keys – or whatever the manufacturer of your chooses to call them – that let you into your car and start it with just a touch use up their internal batteries at alarming rates, catching busy drivers unawares – even though the car had tried to warn you.

Our goal is to help you feel safe – and keep you moving or get you moving if at all possible – rather than leave you fretting whenever your key fob stops working. The instructions for getting into and starting most keyless start cars can be found on our pages – without roadside assistance.

You can see the new video on our YouTube channel here, or on our Buick page, which now has 10 videos, here.
