This is a Roof Load Indicator symbol. It will appear in a Land Rover vehicle when OCTA drive mode is enabled. OCTA mode, a high-performance off-road driving mode, should be disabled before driving the vehicle with a roof load.

OCTA mode is an off-road driving program, and is recommended for use during a dynamic drive over loose and rough gravel surfaces. However, OCTA also describes an actual Land Rover Defender model as well. The notable difference between the OCTA and regular Defender models is in its powertrain.

The OCTA features a 4.4-litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine that substantially outperforming the standard Defender engine options.

The name OCTA comes from the shape of a diamond. It is not, as we initially thought, an acronym or abbreviation.
