We’ve run into a curious owner’s manual mistake in those created for Dodge Charger electric vehicle (EV). We also now know that we did our 2024 symbols and fob updates before the EV was released in 2024!

So, we are now using this as the beginning of our 2025-2026 updates.

In any case, the manual features a set of symbols early that link to first order explanations deeper in the document. Well, we ran across this:

It reads as a fault in the vehicle’s acoustic vehicle alert system (AVAS) while using a take the wheel symbol! This needed exploration.

Clicking to page 91 as linked, we indeed discover that the symbol is for active driving assist and is a take the wheel indicator! Further, on the same page 91, the symbol to the right is shown as the one for the AVAS fault, as we had hoped.

Car manufacturers really need to do better. If the driver stops on the appearance of the symbol in the manual, they will be chasing a very, very different problem…
