Lane centering control (LCC) indicators

Lane centering

Smart

These are Lane Centering Control (LCC) Indicator symbols. They are from the Smart division of Mercedes-Benz Smart, which spells center as centre and centering as centering, the system can execute longitudinal and lateral control on the vehicle within 0-150 km/h (0-94 mph) when the system conditions are met to make the vehicle run at the center of the current lane.

  • Before continuing, is one of these truly your symbol?? If yes, read on below.
  • Otherwise, you can return to our main Manufacturer Symbols pages and scan again!

Left to right, the white symbol shows the system is off, in gray the system is ready, In blue the system is on and active, and in yellow/amber/orange there is a fault in the system. The very center of the wheel includes a nearly indecipherable symbol likely associated with the system.

The system, which is very much related to various lane departure systems that can be found here, can support all operations of the Adaptive Cruise Control System, such as speed adjustment and following distance adjustment, and functions like Cruise Control, Car Following, Speed Limiting, etc. within 0-150 km/h (0-94 mph).

Cadillac

Cadillac offers a Lane Centering Assistance option with its Super Cruise system. It is strictly a hands-on system, as suggested by the two symbols to the left. In green, the system is actively centering the vehicle in its lane. In yellow/amber/orange and with the exclamation point, the system is requiring the driver to take control.

Lane Centering Control works when lane markings are clear on at least one side and provided that all functions of Adaptive Cruise Control are available. The system also still requires that the steering wheel is being held by the driver.

This set of indicators is from another manufacturer, which feature indicators with either arrows on either side of lane markings and a car. The use of lane markings in the images is more traditional There is also one that replaces the arrows with a steering wheel, which points to the need to keep hands on the wheel.

The indicator’s color of the denotes system status. Gray indicates the system is on but inactive. In green, the system is active and applying steering torque assistance input to keep the vehicle centered in the lane. Yellow/amber/orange indicates a system problem and/or with an audible tone and then a return to gray indicates automatic cancellation and back to inactive status.
