Life detection system off indicators

Life detection system

This is a Life Detection System Off indicator symbol. The symbol, from a system used by Mercedes-Benz Smart division vehicles, appears as a seat with a sitting figure and the word off below it in yellow/amber/orange. When the system is turned off, the OFF icon will be seen on the driver information display, and the center display will show a text prompt.

  • Before continuing, is one of these truly your symbol?? If yes, read on below.
  • Otherwise, you can return to our main Manufacturer Symbols pages and scan again!

The system uses as sensor to check all passenger spaces for living beings after the vehicle is powered off. If a child or pet or is detected, the driver will be reminded through alarms or intervention measures not to leave them inside.

A mobile phone message will also be sent and, best of all, the Climate Control will be turned on and set to Auto mode.

Volvo has begun the use of a less sophisticated Interior Presence Detection system that monitors seats and seat belt use and the use of doors and issues an alert if it suspects that passengers, pets or belongings are still inside when the driver’s door is opened after a drive. The symbol to the left will be seen when the system is off.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
