Cadillac back-up start update adds three model changes

Cadillac back-up start

A complete 2025 and 2026 update of Cadillac back-up start processes found three changes we’ve now accounted for. Back-up start procedures are necessary in the event that the battery in the key fob dies.

New Optiq and Vistiq electric vehicles (EVs) and Escalade models beginning in 2025 all use the rear cup holder as a back\-up location. They join CT4, CT5 and Lyriq models that already use this spot.

To start the vehicle, make sure the cup holder is empty and drop the fob into the cup holder with the buttons are facing up. With the vehicle in Park or Neutral, press the brake pedal and the Start / Stop ignition button as normal to start as normal.

For the record, we now have three different back-up start locations for Escalade models depending on the model year. The evolution suggests that the company may be consolidating back-up locations. At last. Our page has 10 different spots used over the years.
