Fiat revue brings surprises

Fiat revue

After the time spent going over the dozen or so Chevrolet models, we thought we’d take our foot off the gas (accelerator) with a Fiat revue. This actually led to a few surprises.

So, getting the our work out of the way, the 500e back-up open and start processes have not changed. The back-up processes are necessary in the event of a dead key-fob battery or electrical interference.

The first surprise is that the company still offers only the 500e in the U.S. in three versions, and that in fact, there is not a 2026 model!

This had us concerned for the overall health of the company, but we were relieved to discover many, many other models can be had elsewhere in the world.

The second surprise was to discover that Fiat is acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino, which translates to Italian Automobiles Factory, Turin, or Italian Automobile Factory of Turin.

But the biggest surprise is that Fiat will introduce an electric two seat model — the Topolino — in 2026 in the United States! A doorless version is shown to the right. And, yes, it can be had with doors…

Two-seat models of anything have rarely found success in the U.S. market, that remains dominated by large SUVs. It will be interesting to see the reception the model receives.

Back-up open and start processes for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (Fiat) can be seen here.
