Back-up open and start page gets major overhaul

Back-up open and start

We’ve just completed a major overhaul of the back-up open and start and page, opting to use the manufacturer logo alongside links to the separate open and start sub-pages.

Back-up open and start processes are made necessary by the loss of battery power in key fobs, a common occurrence in today’s push-button start cars.

This comes as part of an effort to get more attention to the pages. While we believe these pages to be of great potential value to drivers, they are rarely visited.

Sadly, we have the information needed to open and start cars from 45 different manufacturers selling hundreds of models into the North American market.

In fact, we consider the website to be the leading resource for this information, in the world.

For the record, we started to use the terms Back-up open and Back-up start in the links and got some feedback from an average driver who didn’t understand what it meant!

As a result, we may be making many additional changes focusing on phrasing!

In any case, the two images give a hint as to the change in display. Originally, the page was simply a list of manufacturers followed by links to the proper post (right).

Now, as we noted above, the manufacturer logo is seen with the links in an adjacent box (above right). The companies remain in alphabetical order.

We hope and believe it will at least be more pleasing to the eye, and perhaps the search engines.

The back-up open and start page can be seen here.

The material on these pages is provided for information sharing purposes only and should not be used in lieu of an OEM service manual or factory authorized service procedure. We are not in the auto repair business, nor do we publish automotive service manuals. Nothing we include on these pages and posts has been reviewed, approved or authorized by any vehicle manufacturer.

Remember — only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
