Edmunds best

The recently released Edmunds best of 2026 list includes two entries from Hyundai. In fact, of the over 500 cars and trucks evaluated buy the group, the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid came out on top as the Best of the Best for 2026.

As the best SUV for the year, Edmunds gave the three row Palisade Hybrid high marks for comfort, look and feel of the cabin and overall value.

The Hyundai Ionic 5 was rated the top electric SUV, getting praise for its fast charging and NACS plug. Edmunds also appreciated the return of some control buttons and noted the EV’s affordable price.

The Ford Maverick got top marks in the truck category while the Rivian R1T was rated the best electric truck. The Maverick stood out as small but practical with plenty of storage, while the R1T was lauded for its classy interior and improved build quality.

For the second year in a row, the Honda Civic Hybrid was named the best car for 2026, while the Tesla Model 3 took the top spot in the electric car category. The Civic stood out as practical and efficient, as well as its quality build, while the Model 3 was praised for its relatively low cost and 340 mile range.

The announcement video, which can be seen here, also includes additional recommendations.

We find it notable that the three EV categories aside, two of the remaining three are also electrified.
