Terrain assist page “relieved” of hill start and grade assist segments

Terrain assist

Similar to our recent Drive Mode Page improvements, we’ve made significant changes to our Terrain Assist indicators page, the result of which is a far simpler and more navigable page.

To accomplish this, we created a new Hill Start Assist indicator page and a new Grade Assist indicator page. In effect, the first covers systems that help climb a hill and the second helps keep a driver from rolling downhill.

The point, of course, is that, while all these systems — including Terrain Assist— are truly related. The systems use the same automotive functions to help keep a vehicle under control under stressful or difficult conditions.

However, the insistence of manufacturers to create new images for their own models results in a ridiculous and unnavigable number of indicators on bloated pages. We’ve determined that the only real cure is to separate functions even if they are related to each other.

It leaves us with the unenviable task of chasing down links in tables going back 15 years.

But we’ll get it done!

The material on these pages is provided for information sharing purposes only and should not be used in lieu of an OEM service manual or factory authorized service procedure. We are not in the auto repair business, nor do we publish automotive service manuals. Nothing we include on these pages and posts has been reviewed, approved or authorized by any vehicle manufacturer.

Remember — only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
