A full review 2026 Kia emergency open procedures finds a single change. What will be the 2027 Telluride will now feature the door handle first added to the EV9.
The vast majority of other models feature a two-piece driver’s door handle with a cap at the rear that needs to be removed to access the key hole (left). These have been in use for a decade and can be found at the link below.
With the new Telluride, the door handle needs to be held all the way open while removing the cover. This is accomplished by pushing the front of the handle inwards, which pops out the rear of the handle, which can then be pulled.
The mechanical key is supposed to be used to remove the cover shown, but we used a finger nail and feel like the cover could be damaged by the key.
We covered this on video some time ago using the EV9, and we’ve linked it below. Note that the emergency start procedure will be different in the Telluride.
