It truly seems that the company has several people assembling these things and not talking to each other. However, its more likely that they are having difficulty deciding on the best possible representation.
For instance, these are in use for the three row Sienna. Clearly a higher end version of the vehicle uses captains chairs in the second row. A lower end version finds a bench seat in the center, resulting in a different number of belts. The use of a single figure in the upper right and dots where the seats are simplifies the symbol.
However, here we have four different versions of a single second row with three seats. Most use the word REAR for obvious reasons, while one makes the symbol longer by using the word to one side. It is far easier to read the the symbol next it, which repeats the word three times for no good reason at all.
Here are the final two. Hopefully over time the company will settle on a consistent representation. In the meantime, our Toyota symbols page will have to live with six separate symbols going forward…
