New Acura EV prototype to be unveiled during Monterey Car Week

We recently noted that neither Honda or Acura had progressed their electric vehicle (EV) models and we speculated that they may be readying their own builds. Sure enough, an announcement came through on August 8th that an Acura EV prototype would be debuted globally at the Monterey Car Week.

The show, which opened on the 8th, is an annual, 10-day-long celebration of automotive excellence held in Monterey County, CA. It features a series of events dedicated to classic cars, luxury automobiles and motorsports and closes August 17, 2025.

Acura RSXAcura, which supplied a teaser photo (right), did not add an exact date for the debut.

The company will resurrect the RSX brand as an all-electric SUV based on the Acura Performance EV Concept. The Acura RSX that is set to arrive at dealers in the second half of 2026, which we speculate will be a 2027 model.

The car will be the first model engineered on the new in-house-developed EV platform and mark the launch of the new proprietary ASIMO OS operating system that Acura introduced at CES 2025. ASIMO OS is a direct reference to Honda‘s ASIMO robot, known for its advanced robotics and human-like capabilities. Honda notes that the OS will work together on common basic software such as the Android OS and iOS.

The RSX also will be the first EV produced at the Honda EV Hub flexible manufacturing facility in Ohio, on the same production line as the Acura Integra, using domestic and globally made parts.
