Lots of changes to the Chevrolet back-up start page

Chevrolet back-up start

A full review of 2025 and 2026 models finds a good number of changes and adjustments to our Chevrolet back-up start page. In fact, we found two that we had simply missed in our 2024 review.

Back-up start options and procedures are made necessary by the loss of battery power in a key fob or from electrical interference.

The two that we missed include the Colorado, which got its first push-button start system in 2023 and the TRAX which saw a change in the back-up start location back in 2024.

The Colorado back-up start location is in a cup holder, but for some unknown and unknowable reason, is in the cup holder on the passenger side! Chevrolet has used lots of cup holders in models for years, but always on the driver’s side or in the front (right).

The TRAX location moves from a front cup holder to a flat spot in front of the center console storage area (left).

As has always been true, once the key fob is placed in its proper spot, the car recognizes the key fob and the car can be started normally.

Beginning in 2025, Equinox models now use a flat spot in front of the cup holders, somewhat similar to the TRAX change (right).

Elsewhere on what is a very crowded page, we made adjustments to the Blazer, Corvette and Sonic entries to add clarity. Blazer EV models differ from non-EV models, again for no apparent reason.

The page holds over 20 images, and we could have added more, but chose to point to similar images already entered. At DashboardSymbols.com we firmly believe it would be in the company’s best interest and their customers’ best for the company to standardize the location…

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
