Eight new manufacturer drive mode pages created to simplify the website

Drive mode pages

A week or so ago, I posted that we would be creating drive mode pages for individual manufacturers. To that end, we have since created seven of those pages.

Pages for Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Hyundai, Lexus, Ram, and Subaru are now on the site. Cadillac and Chevrolet share a page. They are all linked from the original page.

There are three more we can create directly from the original page, and others will fall out naturally when their symbols updates come due.

The result is a page that had held well over 80 indicators is down to 51. Its already a much cleaner look and ultimately will become obsolete.

This process suggests solutions for other pages that have grown cumbersome. All of this is a result of manufacturers being allowed to make a new image for every system and sub-system in their vehicles irrespective of whether or not an indicator already exists in the auto verse.

Our pages host well over 1,000 warning lights and indicators, and we frankly stopped counting at 1,000. We feel the use of so many symbols and indicators is an unnecessary burden for drivers and in some cases can in fact create safety and driver distraction issues.

At DashboardSymbols.com, we remain committed to bring the latest technologies down to earth and understandable for everyday drivers.

The material on these pages is provided for information sharing purposes only and should not be used in lieu of an OEM service manual or factory authorized service procedure. We are not in the auto repair business, nor do we publish automotive service manuals. Nothing we include on these pages and posts has been reviewed, approved or authorized by any vehicle manufacturer.

Remember — only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
