Turbo boost

This is a Turbocharger indicator symbol. It comes courtesy of the Ford Bronco, which does not specify a color or a reason for it to be lit. But it is associated with a Boost Gauge, and we then learned it is seen in white.

Ford has used turbocharging technology that it calls EcoBoost since 2009. However, this is the first time a indicator has been specified.

We discovered a thread on Reddit that included an image of an instrument panel, which showed that the indicator is at the center of a nearly full circle that shows pounds per square inch (psi) between zero and 20. The number will vary depending on the pressure placed on the accelerator pedal.

It remains unclear if the indicator might otherwise be seen, perhaps if a fault is seen in the system for example.

EcoBoost is Ford‘s brand of turbocharged, direct-injection gasoline engines designed to improve fuel efficiency without sacrificing horsepower. By combining smaller engine displacement with turbocharging technology, they provide power similar to larger engines (like V8s) when needed, but with better efficiency for everyday driving.

EcoBoost is used across the company’s product line, from 4 cylinder through 8 cylinder engines.
